Legion Tomorrow: Pre-Game Musings

It is time yet again to face Legion of Everblight tomorrow. This matchup however will not be against the dreaded Lylyth2 with specialists. My opponent is practicing with a Vayl2/Saeryn setup so I'm assuming I'll receive the former. The specific list he is trying out for Vayl2 is as follows:
Vayl, Consul of Everblight - WB: +6
- Succubus
- Angelius - PC: 8
- Angelius - PC: 8
- Angelius - PC: 8
- Angelius - PC: 8
- Ravagore - PC: 9
- Seraph - PC: 7
Blighted Nyss Shepherd - PC: 1
Blighted Nyss Shepherd - PC: 1
Spell Martyrs - PC: 1
Spawning Vessel - Vessel & 6 Grunts: 3
THEME: Machinations of Shadow - Tier 4
Tier 4 heavy warbeast spam and the inevitable spawning vessel. Ok so I've gotten quite comfortable playing Haley2 into Vayl2. It's been a while however and in most of my games there haven't been as many Angelii as here, more of a mix with Ravagores and typically a unit of infantry. All in all I don't think it matters all that much. The important bit here is to hurt the Angelii sufficiently on their way in so that the Stormwall doesn't go down easily while Haley stays alive. Easier said than done perhaps but there are a few recurring patterns I've learned that makes it very hard for Legion to get an angle. Furthermore I've never seen Legion be able to play the scenario game in this matchup whereas Haley often can. Indeed the sheer threat itself is enough to warrant certain moves from the Legion player.

All in all I'm excited to play Legion again. While I need more training vs Lylyth2 it'll be good to practice Haley2 vs Vayl2 again as I really believe this is a game for Cygnar. It has to be played precisely because if Cygnar make a slight mistake, Legion have all the tools in the world to punish you for it.
