:: Pre-Battle Thoughts & Deployment ::

Same map and scenario and I won the roll-off. The last time these lists faced off I decided I needed Rangers. I had some truly crappy dice and I was eager to get another chance and really decimate this Retribution list, because I think Sloan truly is up for it.

Deployment with this list feels like cheating. I deploy 4 models centrally, watch my opponent deploy everything, deploy the rest and -then- get to move first. Lol.

:: Game ::

I skew right. I want to nail the Sentinels ASAP and deal with the rest later. I have a few elements on the left to create angles and threaten him. Do note the lanes in my lines on the right flank, with this list it's crucial that various elements (Sloan, Arlan, Rangers) get to move where they need to before the rest activate.

As with last game Kaelyssa runs her shit up and feats.

Disco received blur and went in cover. I believe the idea was to create a very hard piece to deal with which also makes it very hard for me to kill Hyperion. In any case, putting Disco that far up really is asking for trouble: Between Arcing Fire and Shadow Fire it's basically impossible to keep Elara safe.

The idea then is to simply kill Skeryth, Sentinels and Elara, leaving disco dead in the water and securing me the right flank. By spreading out and jamming Hyperion shut I also ensure I can deal with him next turn.

So Sloan takes out Skeryth, Hunters and one Grenadier deal with Sentinels and the last Grenadier kills Elara and the Sentinel Officer (leaving the banner as the sole surviving member). Did I mention that I got the electrobros as well?

The writing's on the wall and my opponent concedes.

Victory to the Swans!

:: Evaluation ::

This is what happens when you roll decently with this list. Things just disappear. I needed Guided Fire to ensure solid kills here and between that and Rangers I could reliably hit the Sentinels with my entire army.

The Grenadiers are so solid. I mean they are good in Haley3 but they are terrific with Sloan as well. Getting 8 shots from 18 points on feat turn is amazing value.

Again I'm not sure what Retribution could've done. Sentinels elected not to mini-feat so that's an obvious mistake but I'm not sure it would've mattered all that much. I didn't shoot with neither Rangers nor Trenchers, a couple of fuckups meant I had to run with the latter.

I'm loving the list and I'm learning more and more what to do with it and how to play it. My next couple of games will be with Stryker3 and then there's a tournament on Saturday. Awesome!
